This research project outline puts the ‘social’ into Social Studies. In Jigsaw projects, students get into groups and yet each have individual responsibilities in learning about different aspects of a subject. In this case, groups each take on 2 Canadian Prime Ministers, learn something specific about them, put their information into a format that can be presented, and finally present their information to their classmates. Classmates can also be held accountable to take notes.

Getting into detailed study about Canadian Prime Ministers and their entry and exit related to the Canadian Political System provides a deeper level of input into how Canadian democracy actually works in practice, whether majority or minority governments are in power, how long governments last, and how governments fall.

Again, documents are provided in docx, the older Microsoft Word .doc, and pdf formats, in order to provide maximum flexibility of approach and in order to work within whatever limitations may be at issue within a particular school’s computer system.
